In June we called for ideas for a logo for the Wellington Jewish Community Centre.
We asked for your ideas – concepts, examples of logos from elsewhere, or actual logo designs – which we could develop further and we received some great submissions, which we’ve featured below.
Thank you to those who submitted ideas: Seth Schanzer, Tut Blumenthal, Alex Grinberg, Uri Khein, and Sandra Zukerman.
We’ll need to do further work to ensure any idea we develop will be suited to its likely uses in print and online work during anniversary celebrations next year and afterwards.
We’d love to hear what you think of them and which ideas you think we should develop further.
Let us know what you think of these ideas in comments below or by email to communications@wjcc.org.nz before 17 September.
Members of our WJCC Chat Facebook group can also view and feedback on logo ideas there too.
Your ideas
Here are the ideas you submitted. We’d love to hear what you think of them.
Remember that these are ideas only – any idea we we develop will need further work to be suited to its likely uses. At this stage we’d like to hear which ideas we should develop further.

Medallion
A medallion based logo based on the logo of the Sixteenth Street Synagogue. We’ve included the original logo as well as a concept of what a WJCC version could look like.

Logo ideas inspired by a sefer Torah.

Beth El medallion
A medallion inspired by Gabriel Heimler’s painting blending the old Beth El shul and the (comparatively) new Centre.

Beth El
One submitter suggested a logo based on Biney’s painting of the old Beth El shul:

WJSC inspired Magen David
These two magen David based designs are inspired by the historic Wellington Jewish Social Club flag.
